Cool Treats for Hot Days

Summer's always hot here in Texas!  My kids learned at an early age to just laze in a shady spot by the pool!  Here are a few ideas for cooling down on a hot summer day!

My boy Willie is not to fond of the pool! (he has water issues!) so he likes to find a shady spot in the grass and nom on these!

Willie's Peanutty Pupcicles

1 banana

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup wheat germ

1/4 cup chopped peanuts

Place in food processor and blend. Using spoon, pack into ice cube trays and freeze.

A great summer treat!

My boy Buck is the barktending specialist and has created a great Daiquiri! Very nommy and he uses his imagination to tweek this recipe often!

Buck's Special Dog'quiri

2 Cups plain natural yogurt

1 tbs. water (you can use 2 cups of Kefir and omit water if you wish)

3 tbs. pureed pumpkin

Combine until well blended and freeze for 1 hour. Stir & serve!

Use your barktending skills and substitute peanut butter, sweet potato, banana or whatever you love in place of the pumpkin!

Son Razzy is somewhat of a gourmet! He doesn’t even appreciate a good chew of horse poo! Must have inherited that from some rogue prince of a dog way back in the lineage! Anyway, his offerings always lend a glamorous look to the table!

Fresh Minted Custard

1 1/2 tbs brown rice flour

1 cup low fat milk

2 egg yolks

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup mashed banana

1 tbs fresh minced mint leaves

Blend until smooth and cook over medium heat just until mixture thickens (don't let it boil)

Pour into pie shell and chill until set.

Sweet little Muffin is always on the go and won’t sit still for long. She prefers to grab anything frozen and continue the quest for whatever she is chasing at the moment! You’ll find this very quick and easy!

Muffin's Go Globs

Puree anything nommy that gives you extra energy, fresh berries, peanut butter and yogurt, even a non sodium beef broth!

Freeze it and I’ll take mine to go!
